Grand Street’s century of experience and partnership with local community organizations allows us to provide the resources you and your family need to grow and succeed.
Program Cornerstones
Grand St. Settlement’s Head Start program helps children grow under the guidance of expert teachers to give them more opportunities to succeed by focusing on:
• Skill Development: Children learn the foundations for reading, writing, math, and science to build their confidence as learners while activities in art, music, and movement inspire imagination and problem solving.
• Social Emotional Development: Children gain important skills to understand their emotions, build relationships, and get ready for their next step into kindergarten. Health and Wellness: Participants receive health screenings alongside health and nutrition consultations for ongoing wellness support to stay physically and emotionally healthy.
• Early Intervention: Children with special needs or developmental delays can receive screenings and services from partnering organizations to better meet their needs.
Family Support
Head Start provides parents and families with resources and opportunities to support their roles as parents:
• Case Management: Family Advocates help families set goals and connect them to resources like healthcare, housing assistance, and benefits assistance.
• Workforce Development: Parents can enroll in stipend programs to gain valuable job skills along with accessing Grand St. Settlement’s workforce development network.
• Parenting Workshops: Workshops are hosted for parents to improve their parenting skills and learn about health, wellness, and nutrition as well as your child’s educational development.
