Cummings Family Dentistry recently welcomed Yumee Yang, D.D.S., to its team of dentists in Huntington. The general dentistry practice serves children and adults, and specializes in treating patients with special needs.
Dr. Yang started her new position in January. As a general dentist, Yang is trained in all phases of dentistry, including cavity fillings, cleanings, implant work, and other preventative and maintenance treatments. She works on Saturdays, a particularly busy day of the week at the practice. With an additional doctor on staff that day, patients don’t have to wait too long for their dental check ups, according to owner Johnasina Cummings, D.D.S.
“I do a lot of implants on Saturdays,” Dr. Cummings says. “This way, another doctor is able to help out and do some of the fillings, hygiene checks, and I focus on a lot of the major services that other patients need.”
In her short time at the practice, Yang is already making an impression on her new patients.
“She’s very well respected by her patients and her peers. I respect her a lot, I know what she’s able to do and she’s phenomenal,” Cummings says.
All three dentists on staff, including Dr. Yang, Tenille Phang, D.D.S., and Dr. Cummings, have had similar training at Stony Brook University Hospital residency program. They see patients of all ages, including children as young as age 1. Drs. Cummings, Yang, and Phang work to educate children by explaining to them what they should do to keep their teeth strong and healthy. Services offered for young patients include cleanings, restorations, such as when a child chips or cracks a tooth, and dental sealants to help prevent cavities. They also specialize in treating patients with special needs.
