City kids can have fun and learn a lot from planting and caring for flowers, herbs and vegetables in containers that can be kept on the terrace, windowsill or indoors–click here for some great tips on container gardening with kids! Have a budding botanist on your hands? Why not try one of the children’s gardening programs at either the New York Botanical Garden or the Brooklyn Botanic Garden–or join one of the city’s many community gardens as a family?
