Christy’s Gymnastics, a Queens facility that offers gymnastics programs in Whitestone, recently began offering Rising Stars for Boys. The noncompetitive program that prepares boys for competitive programs was added to expand the offering for boys.
Christy’s Gymnastics early childhood fitness includes Wee Tumble for ages 18 months to 3 years and Junior Gym for ages 3½-5.
Christy’s Gymnastics is a full-service gymnastics studio offering three main gymnastics programs for children ages 18 months to teenagers—early childhood fitness, recreational gymnastics, and the competitive team—as well as birthday parties and camps. Offering. In September, Christy’s Gymnastics began offering Rising Stars for Boys, a program for boys ages 6-10 years old. This program, like the girls program of the same name, is the precursor to the competitive team.
“We were really looking to expand our boys program,” says Christine Phillips, director of Christy’s Gymnastics. “We are starting to train them for the team, but it is not competitive until they get better.”
There are currently six boys enrolled in the program. Classes meet twice a week for an hour and a half each.
Christy’s Gymnastics early childhood fitness is for ages 18 months to 5 years old, with both parent-and-me and independent classes depending on the child’s age. The recreational gymnastics program is for children ages 5 years old to high school students. Recreational programs include Gym Time, Advanced Gymnastics, High School Gymnastics, Cheer and Acro, Rising Stars, and Starbound. All programs are open to boys and girls.
Classes for the winter session start Jan. 6. Enrollment is currently open.
