Chance To Dance launched its first website in September, which allows users to access class schedules, event calendars, and information about the Setauket dance studio’s philosophy and staff. The dance studio also recently joined Facebook.
Chance To Dance offers classes for children ages 2½ and older in ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, contemporary, lyrical, hip-hop, and musical theater. Class sizes are limited to ensure quality and provide individualized attention.
Unlike other dance studios, Chance To Dance doesn’t participate in dance competitions. Jennifer Kranenberg, the owner of Chance To Dance, says this unique philosophy allows everyone to equally experience the joy of dancing and ensures each dancer feels good about themselves. “We want every dancer to feel a part of our special dance family,” Kranenberg says.
For their recitals, Chance To Dance emphasizes the importance of age-appropriate music, costumes, and choreography. Everyone is given an opportunity to be onstage regardless of ability.
“Our goal is to provide your child with an excellent dance education, emphasizing fun in a supportive and nurturing environment, promoting a lifetime of positive self-esteem,” Kranenberg says. “We truly believe everyone should have a Chance To Dance.”
In addition to classes, the dance studio hosts a number of charity events to help the community and those in need. In October, Chance To Dance raised $450 for the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund with several events. In November, Chance To Dance hosted an event for Girl Scouts to earn their dance badge. The cost was a Thanksgiving food donation so the studio could put together Thanksgiving packages for local families in need. Chance To Dance is also sponsoring a family in need for Christmas and helping with gift shopping. After the holidays, the Setauket dance studio will be hosting an all-day dance-a-thon to raise more money for charity.
Chance To Dance also hopes to launch an adult dance and fitness program this winter.
