Innovative Technology Added to Area Classrooms

Catholic Elementary Schools of Long Island have added almost 800 new Chromebooks in classrooms.

There are now hundreds of new Chromebooks in the Catholic Elementary Schools of Long Island, which support the access to and use of  “G Suite for Education.” G Suite provides a complete online environment for students to research and collaborate.

Part of the Diocese of Rockville Centre, the 43 Catholic schools throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties aim to be places for students to learn and develop into intelligent, well-rounded, and faithful children.

The schools are always improving technology to promote learning. Classrooms are equipped with Wi-Fi and smart boards, while computer labs have Windows computers and Macs along with iPads and the newly added Chromebooks.

Student-learning activities from preschool through eighth grade are enhanced through using these innovative technologies. The integration of technology in each classroom engages the imaginations and challenges the capabilities of each student.

Gary Layton, the director of marketing and enrollment for the schools, calls them places “where timeless values meet cutting-edge technologies.”

At Catholic Elementary Schools of Long Island the academic expectations of the students are high and the class sizes are small in order to meet each child’s individual learning needs. Students learn foreign language skills, extensive art and music skills, and participate in engaging extracurricular activities including sports programs.

A series of open houses will be offered during Catholic Schools Week, beginning on Sunday, Jan. 29 and going through Saturday, Feb. 4.
