Adam Grundfast joined the leadership team at Camp Jacobson, a traditional day camp serving children ages 3-15, in early March and will be serving his first term this upcoming summer. Adam has had a background in camp that has lasted almost 20 years, including camper, counselor and various group leader roles.
Camp has always held a special place in Grundfast’s heart, stemming from his own experiences at a child. “I was a shy child, so it was a chance for me to feel comfortable and at home at the camp I was at and to find myself,” Grundfast says.
In addition to his experience at camp, Grundfast has also worked as a university professor and lawyer for more than 25 years. His current role at Camp Jacobson allows him to combine his legal, educational, and child development backgrounds to best serve the community, according to Grundfast.
“I felt I could build a thousand businesses and it wasn’t as impactful as helping even one child,” Grundfast says. “I’ve built some exciting businesses. I did a lot of work within entertainment and technology. Yet if I want to have impact on people and truly leave a legacy in this world, it comes from helping children.”
Camp Jacobson activities include swimming, sports, cooking, arts, and academic enrichment. Registration is open throughout summer which runs from Jun 27-Aug. 22. For more information call 516-626-1094, email campjacobson@sjjcc.org, or visit the Camp Jacobson website.
