Brooklyn Music School is expanding the programs and music lessons it offers for children and adults, including a choir that combines rock with R&B, an Early Musicianship class, and a parent-child music development class. Brooklyn Music School also offers instrumental lessons for children, including piano, violin, guitar, bass, brass, woodwinds, and percussion; various singing lessons; and a music and dance summer institute.
Private violin lessons are just one of the many
instrumental programs Brooklyn Music School offers.
Brooklyn Music School now offers several new music and vocal classes geared toward children and adults. One class is called Choir on Fire, which runs Tuesdays from 7-8pm for ages 10 and older. The hour-long class infuses rock music with R&B, while teaching the students the importance of vocal technique. “The choir lead singer rotates,” says school director Piruz Partow. “Everyone gets a chance to sing lead with back up, while also learning to harmonize.”
Brooklyn Babies Love Music, held for 45 minutes on Tuesdays at 1:30pm, is a parent-child music development class for babies ages 13 months to 2 years. The class offers the complete musical experience with activities and lessons to help each child develop overall musicianship and ear training, while steering them toward future group and private instruction.
Registration has also begun for the summer music and dance institute, running July-August. Appropriate for children ages 5-12, the summer program offers instruction in guitar, piano, percussion, dance, and musical theater. Children also participate in outdoor activities and field trips during the afternoon.
