Bethpage Federal Credit Union of Long Island announced the 10 graduating seniors who received $1,000 college scholarships through its 2011 Foundation Scholarship program.
Bethpage Federal Credit Union, a Long Island-based community financial institution, announced July 6 the 10 recipients of its 2011 Bethpage Federal Credit Union Foundation Scholarship Program.
Each year, as part of its Heart of Bethpage charitable program, Bethpage awards 10 scholarships for $1,000 each to graduating high school seniors who will be attending an accredited college or university the following fall and who exemplify a well-rounded high school career. Applicants need to submit a cover letter describing what they hope to achieve while in college, an essay addressing a turning point or important moment in their lives, and a resume illustrating their community involvement and/or work or internship experience. Applicants also need to have a minimum overall grade point average of 85% (3.0).
“To date, our Heart of Bethpage program has awarded scholarships to almost 100 ambitious, well-rounded young individuals,” says Linda Armyn, senior vice president of Bethpage Federal Credit Union. “We have seen these graduating high school seniors go on to become professionals and productive members of their communities and are proud to be able to support them in any way we can.”
