Bethpage Federal Credit Union Awards 10 Scholarships to Long Island Graduating Seniors

Bethpage Federal Credit Union of Long Island announced the 10 graduating seniors who received $1,000 college scholarships through its 2011 Foundation Scholarship program.

 

Bethpage Federal Credit Union, a Long Island-based community financial institution, announced July 6 the 10 recipients of its 2011 Bethpage Federal Credit Union Foundation Scholarship Program.

Bethpage Federal Credit Union Foundation Scholarship winner 2011Each year, as part of its Heart of Bethpage charitable program, Bethpage awards 10 scholarships for $1,000 each to graduating high school seniors who will be attending an accredited college or university the following fall and who exemplify a well-rounded high school career. Applicants need to submit a cover letter describing what they hope to achieve while in college, an essay addressing a turning point or important moment in their lives, and a resume illustrating their community involvement and/or work or internship experience. Applicants also need to have a minimum overall grade point average of 85% (3.0).

“To date, our Heart of Bethpage program has awarded scholarships to almost 100 ambitious, well-rounded young individuals,” says Linda Armyn, senior vice president of Bethpage Federal Credit Union. “We have seen these graduating high school seniors go on to become professionals and productive members of their communities and are proud to be able to support them in any way we can.”

 

2011 Bethpage Federal Credit Union Foundation Scholarship Recipients

Emily Benz, graduate of Smithtown High School, will be attending SUNY Buffalo

Mario Carrera, graduate of Riverhead High School, will be attending St. Johns University

Kristy Ramphal, graduate of Lindenhurst High School, will be attending the University of Pennsylvania

Anthony DiGirolamo, graduate of Hicksville High School, will be attending Stevens Institute of Technology

Catherine Erdelyi, graduate of West Babylon High School, will be attending Northeastern University

Joshua Ganshaw, graduate of Bethpage High School, will be attending Hofstra University

Taylor Macy, graduate of Commack High School, will be attending Cornell University

Renjith Maracheril, graduate of Mineola High School, will be attending Saint Bonaventure University

Lauren McGarry, graduate of Hauppauge High School, will be attending Georgetown University

Brian Ralph, graduate of Smithtown High School, will be attending SUNY Stonybrook

 

Christina Sharkey, a Bethpage member, is the recipient of the New York State Credit Union League Scholarship. A graduate of St. Anthony’s High School in Huntington, Christina will be attending Georgetown University.
