Ballet Academy East to Offer 15 Full-Tuition Scholarships to Male Pre-Professional Dancers for 2018-2019

Ballet Academy East, an Upper East Side dance training facility for beginners through professionals, will award 15 male dancers in the Pre-Professional Division full-tuition scholarships for the 2018-2019 school year. On Monday, Sept. 17, boys ages 7-18 can audition for the Pre-Professional Division Program for the opportunity to be awarded one of the scholarships.

“We are thrilled to announce the addition of these male scholarships, which will give talented male students, who may not otherwise have had the opportunity, the chance to be part of BAE’s Pre-Professional Division,” said Darla Hoover, associate artistic director of the Pre-Professional Division.

Scholarships range from $3,700 for Level 1 dancer to $10,400 for Level 6-9 dancers.

“BAE has achieved consistent success in producing technically strong, expressive dancers with a unique syllabus, an extraordinary faculty, and incredible performance opportunities,” Hoover said. “BAE continues to offer students the absolute best training in a healthy and nurturing environment, and the creation of this new program allows us to include more male students.”

Ballet Academy East’s male alumni have gone on to dance in such professional companies as New York City Ballet, Miami City Ballet, Ballet Austin, Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, Swedish National Ballet, and Diablo Ballet, among others.

In addition to it’s Pre-Professional Division, Ballet Academy East offers a Young Dancer Division (ages 18 months to 6 years), Primary (ages 6-7) and Enrichment (ages 7-12) divisions, an Adult Division, summer intensives and summer camps, and Ballet Birthday Parties for ages 2-6.

Auditions for full-tuition scholarships for male dancers will be held Monday, Sept. 17 at Ballet Academy East, 1651 Third Ave., 3rd Floor, Upper East Side. For more information and to apply to attend an audition, visit balletacademyeast.com, call 212-410-9140, or email info@baenyc.com.
