On cold days like these especially, if you have a little child and you want to get out of the house, a great place to turn is your local branch library –or one of the main libraries. Beyond their generally excellent children’s sections, they often have wonderful free events for kids. For example, beginning at 3:30 today, at the 67th Street branch library on the Upper East Side, children, 5 to 12, can participate in a program in which they read aloud to a registered therapy dog and a licensed handler. It’s called, “Read With Mudge,” presumably after the kids book series “Henry and Mudge.” There are a lot of treats like that.
The New York Public Library covers Manhattan, the Bronx, and Staten Island. Here’s the link to their events page.
The Brooklyn Public Library’s is here, and the Queens Borough Public Library’s is here. Wish we could join you.
