Amelia Huckel-Bauer launched Elora Theater Arts, which offers workshops in Manhattan, the Bronx, and Yonkers.
Elora Theater Arts, an educational theater company, opened in September 2016. The budding company, started by actor Amelia Huckel-Bauer, offers workshops in Manhattan, the Bronx, and Yonkers for ages pre-K through adult.
One such workshop is Teen Acting for Film, a six-week program on the Upper East Side, in which students in the eighth through 12th grades can explore on-camera acting while using their imagination to develop multiple characters.
Through Little Luminaries and Little Film Stars workshops younger actors in kindergarten through third grade will learn to strengthen their acting choices using their minds, bodies, and voices. The class will memorize and perform a scene to be filmed by a professional cameraperson and then screened for family and friends.
“Elora Theater Arts came into existence shortly after my baby girl, Elora, was born, as I began to shape my work life around motherhood,” Huckel-Bauer states on Elora Theater Art’s website. “I knew that I would no longer be able to pursue my own acting full-time, night and day, morning to midnight. Yet I wanted to create a career and life for myself that would be fulfilling, and that my daughter could be proud of. I realized this meant combining my passion for acting with my teaching skills, in order to create unique opportunities for students in NYC and surrounding areas.”
According to its mission statement, Elora Theater Arts is “dedicated to bringing artistic excellence and empathy to a diverse community of NYC area students in the classroom, on stage, and in film.”
