Allergen-free chocolate

For parents of children with severe food allergies, Halloween can be especially scary. Simon Lester, the founder of Pascha Chocolate, has two daughters with varying food allergies, and that prompted him to make a line of chocolate bars and chips that are free of peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, soy, wheat, eggs, fish, shellfish, mustard, sesame, sulfites, and artificial sweeteners. Pascha’s products are also certified USDA organic, vegan (by the Vegan Awareness Foundation), and Kosher. And while all of that is a treat for parents, the real trick is making it taste great — and in the case of Pascha’s 70 percent cacao, dark chocolate bar, our testers wished we had a bigger bar to sample! All Hallow’s Eve is a lot less frightening now that there’s the perfect treat for our friends with food allergies.
