New Victory’s Journey To “Mother Africa”

The New Victory Theater is renowned for producing children’s theater that is both edgy and original as well as decidedly crowd-pleasing and kid-friendly. And their annual holiday shows are no exception. This year, for the duration of the holiday season (December 6 through January 5, 2014), New Victory is showing “Mother Africa”–which celebrates and showcases the rich traditions of African music and dance.

In paying homage to music and movement styles from a number of African countries with varied acts–including stilt walkers from Tanzania, jugglers from Ethiopia and a  contortionist from Kenya–the show is also a great educational experience for little ones. To get your kiddo psyched about the show, we’ve prepared a fun slideshow and glossary of terms so your child can recognize the instruments and dances featured in the stage production!
