Yogapalooza, a new yoga-based TV show for kids on the Z Living network, stars musician Bari Koral, who leads kids through various yoga poses and concepts during the 30-minute show.
Z Living, the world’s largest health and wellness-focused network, debuted its first children’s program, Yogapalooza, on Saturday, Oct. 4.
Hosted by award-winning local children’s musician Bari Koral, the half-hour show guides viewers through various yoga poses and concepts through child-inspired songs. One concept, for example, is the importance of breathing to relax or calm down after a thrilling exercise.
“The mission is to forge a lifelong love of music, yoga, and health and wellness,” Koral says. “The creative challenge was to teach some of these yoga concepts to children, and I believe we did that in a very educational, entertaining way that really makes sense to them at their level.”
Yogapalooza incorporates child-based knowledge of animals and objects, like rocket ships, to take viewers step by step through traditional yoga poses. For example, with the “Butterfly Song”, Koral matches the song lyrics with the different steps a caterpillar would take to become a butterfly in a child-friendly, recognizable way.
“Z Living is focused on entertaining ways to bring the message of health and wellness to all ages,” says Eric Sherman, CEO of Z Living. “We think that habits that are started when you are young continue with you for the rest of your life. So if kids through a fun, engaging show like Yogapalooza start exercising, we see that as a great habit to get into.”
Yogapalooza airs Saturdays at 8am on Z Living network channels including: channel 164 on Cablevision, channel 218 on DISH Network, channel 162 on Version FiOS, channel 142 on CGI, and channel 226 on RCN.
