On Monday, I enjoyed a series of wonderfully insightful parenting experts do something they’re really not supposed to do: tell a large roomful of parents what they really think. Sponsored and hosted by 92Y, the event was teasingly titled “What Do Parents Really Need To Know?” And you know what? I heard so many wise words for parents with kids of all ages that I want to use my little soapbox this week to encourage you to listen to the chats yourself, which are now online.
I encourage you not to miss a thing, but more realistically, I simply recommend that you start with the topics of most interest; but keep in mind that many of the conversations are much more wide-ranging than their title descriptions suggest.
Whatever talks you choose, I also recommend starting with Dana Points’ introduction to the conference. The editor of Parents magazine, Points challenged herself to embrace the conference’s theme, and offered five lessons from her own experiences as a parent.
I’ve been giving some thought about what five points of advice I would offer to other parents. I won’t bore you with them (today), but I will recommend it as a fruitful exercise any parent.
Now onto the show…
