Weekly Web Round-Up: Week of June 15, 2012

It’s a month after Mother’s Day, and the day to focus on and celebrate our Fathers is finally here. Although, if you read our “Stuff We Like: Gifts for Dad” blog post, you’ll know that my Dad’s philosophy is “it’s just another day”—that Fathers and Mothers should be celebrated and thanked every day. That’s why today’s Weekly Web Round-Up is devoted to things written and made for Fathers.

We’ll start today’s Tribute to Dad with this HooplaHa video we found on the NYC Dads Group blog. This is also a great idea to do with your kids, especially if you still have no idea what to get the Dad in your life to show him how much he means to you.

Amy Shearn, blogger for Redbook at Yahoo! Shine, came up with a list of 10 things that make her husband the best dad ever. One of our favorites from this list is:

6. Zaps.  I actually don’t even know what is up with these. I just know that every once in a while, Daddy and Harper touch their pointer fingertips together and say, “Zap!” then crack up. I think it’s some sort of secret alien handshake.

Ilana, over at Mommy Shorts, had a contest this week for Father’s Day gift giveaways. To enter, her readers had to answer the question “what kind of dad are you dealing with?” In return, she posted her answers to the question. This is just one of her descriptions of the type of dad she’s dealing with:

I'm dealing with the dad who let Mazzy bury him in a pile of stuffed animals as soon as he walked in the door after a 20 hour return flight from Hong Kong.

There is no better way to show Dad how much you love him than spending quality time with him. Check out our calendar of events for some great activities to show Dad just how much he means to you!
