do for each holiday citywide. Otherwise, here are picks for what to do with the
family all weekend long! —
FRIDAY & SUNDAY
Was Abe Lincoln truthful even at a
young age? Kids can find out at La Muse Venale’s Off-Broadway musical
production of Honestly Abe at The
Actors Temple.
Phineas
and Ferb & a live show = sure-fire hilarity at Madison Square Garden. Be sure to
get your tickets!
Laugh your way through an acrobatic
performance of Ahhh HA! at The New
Victory Theater. The whole family will love this live-action and high-energy
show which combines comedy and tumbling.
See what life is like
for an alien in a baffling land for the very first time. A weekend performance of Planet Egg at HERE—a diverse downtown
art space—is a unique show mixing mini-puppets with live video feed.
Start Spring Break at the Mount Vernon
Hotel Museum & Garden with crafts, games & refreshing Johnny Rockets
milkshakes.
SATURDAY-SUNDAY
Don’t miss the opening
weekend
of The Lonely Phone Booth at
Manhattan Children’s Theatre—you’ll find out what one remaining NYC phone booth
does to stay relevant.
SATURDAY
Athletes ages 8-17 can hop,
skip and jump their way to the Double Dutch Spring Sports Clinic. Learn how to jump
through not one, but two ropes at locations in Manhattan and Queens.
Head to the Children’s
Museum of Manhattan to see Sung Heroes—a quartet
of dancers who channel their inner superheroes. Best for ages 4 and up.
Let’s make a deal: The New Museum’s First
Saturdays for Families program presents Let’s Trade, a morning where kiddos can
learn all about bartering for goods and services—complete with dancing and
paper sculptures. For ages 4-15.
Ooh and ahh at the kilts in Central Park’s Scotland Run, then
stick around for the festival which boasts bagpipes, photo booths and crafts.
Three cheers for tartan!
SUNDAY
Pop Art is back. This week’s Sunday Story Hour at the Dimenna Children’s
History Museum spotlights NYC artist Andy Warhol. Plus, if you haven’t seen the
recently opened Keith Haring exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum,
it’s a colorful must-see.
