For the months of September and October, Treetop Adventure of the Bronx Zoo is offering special late-night hours on Fridays and Saturdays from 10am to 8:30pm. Participants can choose to zipline across the Bronx River and back, climb seven different rope courses, or both. The time slot for the final zipline reservation is 8pm. The last climbing reservation starts at 6pm.
Located in the Bronx off the Bronx River Parkway, Treetop Adventure provides kids and adults alike with two unique aerial experiences right in the heart of the city. Visitors can ride down the 400-foot long zipline over the Bronx River and back, thus experiencing two unique views high above the trees. In addition to the zipline, participants can master the bridges, ladders, rolling and swinging obstacles, wobbly crosswalks, and tightropes that make up the seven different rope courses. All climbers start out at the beginner, or Chipmunk, level and make their way up four difficulty levels to the expert, or Ratsnake, level.
At Treetop Adventure, safety is a priority. All participants are provided with helmets, harnesses, and belay clips designed to never have more than one release. Participants must also be at least seven years old, weigh between 50 to 275 pounds, and be able to reach 66 inches with their feet planted on the ground.
“This is a safe adventure. It feels exciting, but safety is a very important part of how we manage the program,” says Randi Winter, Director of Visitor Services at the Bronx Zoo.
Although affiliated with the Bronx Zoo, Treetop Adventure requires a separate entrance ticket. Visitors can purchase a two-hour climbing ticket for $49.95 or a two-way crossing zipline ticket for $24.95. They may also purchase a combo ticket for both attractions for $59.95. For $19.95, visitors at the Bronx Zoo can add the zipline experience to their pass.
Treetop Adventure is located in Bronx River Parkway at Boston Rd, Bronx, NY. For more information and to check hours of operation, visit the Bronx Zoo Treeptop Adventure website.
