Oh my gosh it feels like I haven’t seen y’all in forever! In reality we’ve only been apart two weeks, but that may as well be forty years on the Internet, right? Things just started snowballing and it looks like it won’t stop until there’s enough snow on the ground to make a real snowball. But that’s how the year goes, isn’t it? Summer lulls us into a slower pace and we’re tricked into believing it will last, then all of a sudden, boom! It’s the first day of September, school’s starting, quick, make lunch for the
kids, and where’s Bobby’s toothbrush, and oh boy, you’ll have to juggle after-school activities and weekend playdates and birthday parties and ohmigod it’s time for Halloween do you have a costume ready?! Once October 31 rolls on by it’s practically Thanksgiving, followed soon after by Christmas, and there we are, goodbye to another year!
Do I sound frazzled? I’m not frazzled. I’m totally calm. I’m serene. I’m…okay that’s a lie. Of course I’m frazzled! It’s October, also known as The Month In Which Halloween Happens, and I live in Kid World…it’s not exactly a calm time of year. But then again, when you throw kids into the mix, when is it ever calm? If I’m being honest, I love the rush, I love the fall weather, and my oh my do I love Halloween candy.
So I apologize for being absent for the past two weeks, and I really did miss you (though I’ve still been faithfully on Twitter, and don’t think I didn’t see all your witty 140 character blasts…I’m watching, even when I’m not giving out gold stars in this post)! But I know you’ll forgive me for being MIA to go pumpkin picking, spruce up my place for our annual Halloween party, and work on my costume (I’m being Pebbles Flinstone this year — any other grown ups dressing up?) because I’d forgive you. We’re barreling through the end of 2012 and none of us can stop it…so why not take a deep breath, check out the best tweets from the past THREE weeks, and give ourselves a two minute break. Goodness knows we won’t get many of those this season, but when you do catch a minute to yourself…why not tweet about it? (Kidding, kidding…get offline and go enjoy your family, right?!)
My family loved this Pizza Casserole…another way to celebrate National Pizza Month without actually eating any… fb.me/1jMO7GBBB

You guys, I have a serious question: Why does no one ever tell me about things like National Pizza Month?!?!
I just asked a co-worker if they had any chocolate and they pulled out a 1 KILO BAR of Cadbury Dairy Milk. Life is SO AWESOME sometimes.
— Ilana Wiles (@mommyshorts) October 10, 2012
And in other news, why do things like this never happen to me? My co-worker offered me an apple earlier, which was nice, but not quite the same.
It’s Intl @dayofthegirl! What will you tell your daughters today? #DayOfTheGirl
— Carolina Parent (@CarolinaParent) October 11, 2012
What did you tell the girls in your life on Day of the Girl? Tell them that they’re smart, funny, and capable young women EVERY day and watch them grow up and make it so.

As a pack-rat I am super appreciative of any post that advises me how to store All The Things.
Know why? Because I’ve been thin & I’ve been heavy, and one’s weight doesn’t necessarily correlate with a feeling of self-worth.

Oct is anti-bullying month. Beautiful post on importance of #kindness from author @jackiewoodson on @nymetroparents tinyurl.com/8u9fq58
— Elizabeth Zajac (@elizabethzajac) October 3, 2012
Love that people appreciated this post — kindness is the most important action, no matter what month it is (but is everyone taking anti-bullying month October as an opportunity to chat with your kids about bullying and kindness? You totally should!)

Online Annoyance: Having to sign in to comment on a blog post.
— Katherine Stone (@postpartumprog) October 15, 2012
I love learning how other people exist online (annoyances, pleasures, likes, dislikes) because it’s so revealing of how technology and our world is growing and changing. I’ve never noticed this annoyance but now I’ll be thinking about it when I visit a blog.

Speaking of learning — LOVE this post about travel. “Travel forces us to ask questions, and learn, grow, become better, and more conscientious people of the world. I want that for my children – for all children.” Yes x 10!
Trying not to tweet unless I have something positive or funny to say. Thinking you all get enough complaining AWAY from this place. Right?
— sarahdessen (@sarahdessen) October 15, 2012
Sarah Dessen, you’re a stronger woman than I am if you can truly refrain from complaining on Twitter — I’m impressed!
