Hello, rainy dreary NYC! Will I ever have anything else to say to you this summer? Who knows. I guess we should all be grateful that last Monday, Memorial Day, was bright and sunny. I took that as a direct sign from a higher power to enjoy the day off work and get offline, so you may have noticed this feature was missing last week; forgive me!
So did you take a break from the Internet for your long weekend? And does “taking a break from the Internet” mean signing off completely, or do you allow yourself to cheat with Twitter and Instagram on your smart phone? No judgement here, I promise–just wondering exactly how abnormal my habits are, and how concerned I should be! In any case, gross weather gives us all an excuse to get online completely guilt free, so without further ado here is a very random mix of fun stuff y’all said over the past 10 days. Thank you as always for being funny and helpful and crazy and cute and present on Twitter, because if you weren’t I’d have nothing to blog about every Monday!
Toddler Tip: If you don’t understand a question answer with a firm “NO.”

I think adults should adopt this mantra, too. Yes/no? NO!
5 things to do with your kids in the DIRT. (yes, dirt!) bit.ly/K6JHNh — Audrey McClelland (@AudreyMcClellan) June 4, 2012
If anyone can convince me that letting children play in the dirt is a-okay, it’s Audrey. Read her post for some cute (albeit messy!) muddy plans.
We love these pillowcase dresses for toddlers! ow.ly/bhnDn — Babble.com (@BabbleEditors) May 31, 2012
My main take away from this is that I wish my torso was a lot smaller (I’m short, but I’m not that short!) because these pillowcase dresses are adorable and I want one. Maybe I could sew 3 pillowcases together and give it a go?
When you have a kid w/ #specialneeds, your have to cruise through life w/ special-needs goggles on. More: bit.ly/LIZthz @lovethatmax
— Parents Magazine (@parentsmagazine) May 29, 2012
“As I left, I took off my special-needs goggles, and then I drove home. I’m sure I’ll be putting them on again, soon. That’s the way life is, and it’s perfectly OK.” Beautiful eloquence as always from Ellen Seidman.
The best thing to spend on your child is TIME! #MommyPains

So simple yet so easy to forget. How do you spend time with your cutie pies?
I’m actually ok w/finding a stray blade of grass in my local farm salad mix. Makes me feel less guilty about poorly weeding my own garden. — Avital N. Nathman (@TheMamaFesto) June 1, 2012
I think I’d be fine with this too. I mean I’d prefer to find a
candy bar in my salad, but I think that’s a separate issue.
Ha! RT “@pbsparents: After sneaking a kiss on my 6yo’s head in front of school, he yelled “Ur gonna pay for that!” Another proud moment.” — Tiffany C. (@TiffanysToyBox) June 4, 2012
This is such a cute image!
C squeezed all of my shampoo out & proceeded to tell me his brother did it. He doesn’t have a brother. #onlychildproblems

Literally LOLing. #onlychildproblems

Oof! Gotta love some word play on a Monday morning…what’s your favorite parenting quote?

Our amazing & generous readers helped raise over $800 for @ALM_Project, Autistic Like Me, a Father’s Perspective. THANK YOU for the support.
— NY Metro Parents (@NYMetroParents) June 4, 2012
And finally, our incredible news of the day: thanks to our awesome, wonderful, dedicated, generous readers (that’s you!) we have raised over $800 for the Autistic Like Me Outreach Campaign. Details to come about where the money will go and how you can continue supporting the project, but for now we want to say thank you, thank you, thank you! This brings a smile to my face despite the dreary weather outside. Happy Monday, everyone.
