Top Tweets of the Week (March 19, 2012)

It’s the first day of Spring! Well, no, that’s technically tomorrow, but frankly it feels like it could be the first day of summer. We’re not complaining. In celebration of this gorgeous weather, we bring you a servicey edition of Top Tweets of the Week, a round-up of the best tweets from the week before. Today we’re focused on tips, inspiration, and ripe avocados.

First, a biased (but true!) tip: pick up your region’s NYMetroParents magazine (we cover Brooklyn, as well as Queens, Big Apple, Westchester, Rockland, Fairfield, Nassau, and Suffolk) for an endless supply of monthly servicey content. We publish a large diverse events calendar, where-to guides, themed directories, features on new places and programs in the community, and lots of helpful articles each month. Do yourself a favor and get your own well-read (free!) copy.

28-year-old Beth-Anne wrotea letter to her 16-year-old self and it kind of made us teary eyed (okay, the staff member in charge of these round ups is a little bit emotional!) We should all take heed with this line: “You’re writing your future and it’s beautiful.” Beautiful indeed.

In an age where anyone with an iPhone is a professional photograph, we’re always excited to learn great photography tips.

Grandparents are so wise. The weather is gorgeous so there is no excuse for TV watching this week!

Short, sweet, and logical. We like it.

If you’re kind enough to give up your phone (what, you don’t alwayshave to…right?), make sure you do these six things first.

Lisa Suriano was kind enough to put together a yummy Shamrock Smoothie for our readers for St. Patrick’s Day. Insider tip: It’s delicious every day of the year!

“Be nice.” Seems so obvious, and yet such a good rule to have…wish we could enforce it on the whole world 24/7!

Happiness is also: when kids actually nap; sleeping in; chocolate frosting; a really great Tweet, summer in March. Join us on Mondays for more Top Tweets. In the meantime, follow us @NYMetroParents for practical parenting advice, local events in the NY Metro area, exclusive deals and discounts, and occasionally hilarious staff banter. If you want us to consider your tweet for next week, tag it #nymptt; if you see a tweet that deserves a mention let us know.
