It’s Monday, which means we’re back with Top Tweets of the Week! As a reminder, every week we’ll be posting a round-up of the best tweets from the week before. Today we’re including tweets that made us giggle, tweets that made us somber, and tweets that made us wish we were poets.

My 11 yr old daughter’s version of the Clash’s Rock the Casbah: “Shareeeee badah badahhhhh- Rock the Passport! Rock the Passport!” — Brooke Stachyra (@914Mom) March 4, 2012
We established last week that 7-year-old humor is fantastic. This week I propose we all acknowledge how wonderful 11-year-old accidentally-edited musical lyrics are. All in agreement say “Passport!”
@finslippy @lateandsoon I think part of becoming an adult is recognizing the lack of irony in most uncool things that we do. — Liz Gumbinner (@Mom101) March 3, 2012
The more I hear about this “becoming an adult” thing, the more I’m into it. Where does one sign up? Is there an age limit?

February 26–March 3 was National Eating Disorder Awareness Week. The level of visibility on the web was heartening. Hopefully it will help make a difference.
Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss! Your books are better than some juice. Something something something Bruce. I’m not great with rhymes. Caboose. — Ellen DeGeneres (@TheEllenShow) March 2, 2012
On March 2nd there were many Happy Birthday Seuss posts, but we loved Ellen’s the absolute most. Caboose. (See, I’m a poet too! Just like Ellen.)
@TheEllenShow wishes @BULLYMOVIE “could be shown in every classroom in America”! Watch the trailer: bit.ly/znJ8C0 — Bully Movie(@bullymovie) March 5, 2012
Speaking of Ellen, she supports BULLY, the movie. But it currently has an R rating, which means it definitely won’t be shown in any classrooms just yet. Want to help change that? Sign the petition.
RT @nymetroparents: Thoughts and prayers to all affected by Chardon High School shooting in Ohio. As @DawnRoode said, why does this happen? — Carole M. Bass (@carole_bass) February 27, 2012
Carole M. Bass echoed Dawnin questioning the senseless violence and devastation that goes along with a school-shooting. I still feel shocked every time this happens. We have been sending thoughts and prayers to all affected and will continue to do so.
@NYMetroParents Loved them ALL. RIP Jan. — The Parent Maze (@ParentMaze) February 28, 2012
Jan Berenstain, co-author of the Berenstain Bears series, passed away at 88. We crowd-sourced all-time favorite Berenstain Bears books, but the answer that kept coming up again and again was clear: all of them.

What inspires you? — DoSomething.org (@dosomething) February 28, 2012
And just when you’re getting a little too gloomy because of all the bad news packed into this week, an awesome kid-centric non-profit poses a simple three-word question over the Internet, and you remember to smile at all the good in your life. At least, that’s what my sappy brain did. Let’s see if I can keep the endorphin-high until next week… Join us on Mondays for more Top Tweets. In the meantime, follow us @NYMetroParents for practical parenting advice, local events in the NY Metro area, exclusive deals and discounts, and occasionally hilarious staff banter. If you want us to consider your tweet for next week, tag it #nymptt; if you see a tweet that deserves a mention let us know.
