Tiny Sparkles Pediatric Dentistry, a dental practice for children ages 1-18, opened in February in Port Washington.
The pediatric practice has three treatment rooms with a television in each and child-friendly safari, superhero, and ocean themes. Even the X-ray equipment is decorated with children in mind: one is a happy dragon (that checks growth and development) and the other a curious giraffe (that checks for cavities).
“In the safari room there’s a special X-ray that is a giraffe head, so it’s really cute and kids aren’t as afraid of it,” says Angie Chin, D.D.S., the owner and pediatric dentist of the practice.
Tiny Sparkles Pediatric Dentistry’s waiting room has iPads and games, and Dr. Chin lets children decide what they want to watch during appointments. Dr. Chin is a board-certified pediatric dentist who specializes in providing oral health care to infants, children, and adolescents as well as individuals with special needs. IV sedations and sedations with nitrous are available when needed.
“In Port Washington there aren’t many solely pediatric [dental] practices. This [Tiny Sparkles Pediatric Dentistry] is dedicated only for children,” Dr. Chin says. “Another thing that might make us stand out is we are open weekends. We are pretty accommodating and also I’m very accessible—if you call after-hours for an emergency I’ll pick up.”
Currently Tiny Sparkles Pediatric Dentistry has a $99 new patient special, which includes checkup, cleaning, fluoride, and X-rays (if needed). The practice accepts insurance and patient forms can be filled out and sent to the practice in advance via its website, cutting down time in office as well as paper waste.
