The Knox School Summer Adventure, a summer day camp at The Knox School in St. James, will offer stand up paddle boarding, a marine science program, and Lego robotics this summer.

Once school is out for the summer, The Knox School Summer Adventure is in session. The daily summer program, offered to children entering kindergarten through 10th grade, begins at the end of June and runs through August.
With the goal of adding new programs to the Summer Adventure every year, camp director Virginia Riccardi expanded this summer’s activities to include paddle-boarding, a marine science program, and Lego robotics. Other camp programs include kayaking, Red Cross swimming lessons, chess, musical theater, fine arts, crafts, tennis, gaga, volleyball, basketball, and badminton.
Campers circulate each day between the various activities, and a hot lunch, all under the instruction of New York state-certified teachers. Students in seventh through 10th grades have the opportunity to join the travel program, where they travel to water parks and amusement parks in the local area, including locations in New Jersey. Outings include Atlantis Ling Island Aquarium, Dave and Busters, Lazer Land, Medieval Times, and Luna Park.
“We’re wide open,” Riccardi says. “We’re on more than 40 acres, and we use our grounds. The kids love it. It’s clean air, sunny skies, rolling green fields. It’s like a real old-fashioned camp experience.”
The summer camp also offers extended care before and after camp.
