Students at this summer’s Spin DJ Academy Interactive DJ Camp will get the chance to show off their musical prowess live on a brand new performance stage. The stage was unveiled this January at the Rockville Centre location of Spin DJ Academy, and it is replete with state-of-the-art sound equipment and professional lighting.
With locations in Rockville Centre and Amityville, Spin DJ Academy offers a range of beginner to advanced-level courses on modern DJ techniques and production year-round. They also book events, host private and group lessons and have a fully-functioning studio.
This summer, Spin DJ Academy will hold two sessions of its Interactive DJ Camp at the Rockville Centre location. The first session will run from July 10th to the 21st; the second session will run from August 7 to August 22. Each day begins at 10 A.M. and ends at 2 P.M. Children ages 10 and older are welcome to register.
“We’re the only ones who offer an experience like this,” says owner Ian Berk. “This is great for kids who are first getting into music, and it’s a great way for them to build confidence.”
Over the course of a two week session, campers will engage in a DJ “crash course” of sorts. Students will be sorted into groups according to age and skill level, and instructors, all working professional DJs, will lead classes focused on DJ and music production. Many of the instructors have toured globally and worked with big-name artists, such as Drake.
In addition, campers will have the chance to interact with state-of-the-art DJ equipment and attend special workshops and performances. At the end of the two weeks, students will flex their newly honed DJ skills and create their own three-song mix and video. They will then replicate a real-life DJ performance right on the brand new stage. Friends and family are invited to this final live event.
