Baked Ham and Cheese Macaroni Recipe

Ray Gruenfelder, founder of theguycornernyc.com, shares his recipe for baked ham mac and cheese.


Ingredients:
 
  • 2 Tbs. corn starch
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • ½ tsp. dry mustard (optional)
  • ¼ tsp. pepper
  • 2½ cups milk
  • 2 Tbs. margarine or butter
  • 2 cups (8 oz.) shredded American or Cheddar cheese, divided
  • 8 oz. elbows (approximately 1¾ cups), cooked 7 minutes and drained
  • 1 cup diced ham

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 375º F.

2. In medium saucepan combine first four ingredients; stir in milk.

3. Add margarine; stirring constantly, bring to a boil over medium-high heat and boil 1 minute. Remove from heat.

4. Stir in 1¾ cups cheese until melted. Add elbows and diced ham.

5. Pour into greased 2-quart casserole. Sprinkle with reserved cheese. Bake uncovered for 25 minutes or until lightly browned.
