Power Brain Training Center in Bayside is a brain education center for children and adults. The Bayside location is adding two new programs to its summer day camp program: Heightened Sensory Perception and Heightened Memory.
Power Brain Training Center is a brain education center that combines classical Asian mind-body techniques with findings in neuroscience to help children and adults realize their brain potential through physical, emotional, and cognitive exercises. This year, PBTC in Bayside will add Heightened Sensory Perception and Heightened Memory programs to the summer program for children ages 4-16.
During the Heightened Sensory Perception program, Alina Pikula, manager and instructor, will teach the children how stop using their five senses to have their brain generate a sixth sense. In this case, Pikula will help children learn how to turn auditory information into pictures so that information can be more easily remembered. The sensory perception program also teaches children about the third eye—imagination, which is used to convert information into images in the brain.
In the Heightened Memory program, children learn to not focus on the outcome, but to focus on the preparation. “Children learn that if they do a good job preparing themselves, the outcome is successful,” Pikula says.
Children in the summer program also learn social interaction and leadership skills, how to create harmony with anyone they may meet, and how to relax their bodies and their brains—this can be achieved by drawing infinity signs to calm the brain and focus on breathing. Children also work on an ongoing art project themed to the groups choosing and do creative activities related to that theme.
The summer program runs from June 29-Aug. 21, Monday-Friday from 9am-4:30pm, with early drop-off and late pick-up available.
