New Jersey Gymnastics Facility Offers Open Gym Time

Paragon School of Artistic Gymnastics will begin offering open gym time in July. The gymnastics facility in Bergen County also offers summer camps and gymnastics teams.

Beginning in July, Paragon School of Artistic Gymnastics in Norwood, NJ will offer open gym time—with a twist.

Kids ages 5 and older can participate in the gymnastic facility’s open gym time program dubbed Welcome to the Jungle, which will be held twice a week from 2:30-5:30pm. Children will be able to explore the space without limits and use the equipment, such as the trampoline, balance beams, pummel horse, and tumble track, under the supervision of a skilled instructor. Young daredevils will also be able to use the facility’s popular trampoline training harness to flip or fly through the air.

Dot and Randy Pendergast, who have been running the facility for 34 years, provide a place for children ages 2-18 to come not just for gymnastics, but to fulfill a wealth of other needs. “Gymnastics is the perfect foundation for success in any sport,” Dot says.

In addition to gymnastics classes, Paragon offers tumbling classes, an in-house intermural gymnastics team, and a competitive, high-level USA Gymnastics sanctioned team. The gym also runs winter, spring, and summer camps, as well as private lessons and birthday parties for all ages upon request.

The summer morning camp is an eight-week program starting June 29 for kids ages 3-8. Five days a week from 9am-12pm, campers will participate in a mix of gymnastics, arts and crafts, and inside games and outside fun or playground time.
