Kenwal Day Camp in Melville is adding some new and exciting features to its roster this summer: a coding and robotics program in partnership with Sylvan Learning, a kid-friendly amusement ride called Turtle Train, and additional day trips for campers in grade 4, increasing the number of excursions from 5 to 6. This year’s camp will run from June 27-Aug. 22.
Kenwal Day Camp offers age-appropriate curriculums to campers from preschool through 11th grade. Teenagers and campers entering fifth through 11th grade can participate in flexible programs that include overnight trips and off-site excursions to places including Virginia Beach, Broadway shows, Dave & Busters, paddle-boarding in the Hamptons, Adventureland, and Madame Tussauds. Campers entering first through fifth grades will have access to first-hand tutoring services in coding and robotics.
In addition to the traditional camp activities, such as swimming, sports and arts & crafts, Kenwal offers an inflatable water park, mini golf, theater activities, zip lines, go karts, rappelling, and karate. Special interest clubs are also available for campers pursuing personal hobbies, such as drama, archery and computers.
Throughout the summer, special events are held to promote camp spirit, and campers are invited to go all out for Crazy Hat Day, flex their acting or singing chops in a talent show and enjoy performances by acts like Jeff the Magician, Petland Pet Show and Chip the Mime Guy.
It’s sure to be an exciting summer, though thankfully one with many familiar faces.
“The majority of our senior staff returns each year,” says Owner Howard Feinstein, or Uncle Howie to many.
