A new Supportive Family Class for children with special needs and their caregiver is now offered at Lyrical Children’s Pre-School in Calverton, which offers the Music Together® program. Based on the belief that all children are musical, the program aims to supply children and families with the instruments necessary to bring out every child’s musicality.
“Music Together is an international program, it’s research based, and founded on the principal that all children are musical, and given the right environment, they have the opportunity to develop the musical aptitude that they are born with,” says Marie Kaminski, owner of Lyrical Children, Inc.
The Supportive Family Class aims to create an environment that allows families that have children with special needs to be more comfortable. An average class at Lyrical Children can include 12 children along with families, while a Supportive Family class allows six children with siblings and caregivers welcome. The smaller classes help to make the time less of a big event and more relaxing, while offering the same experience for social interaction and family musical playtime. Each family is given materials such as books and CDs to play at home, supporting the research that shows that children learn more by observing and being a part of an environment.
