Kaufman Children’s Dental Hospital, which has dental practices in Manhattan and Brooklyn, now offers orthodontic services for kids and adolescents in both locations.
Coming from a family of dentists, Elan Kaufman, D.M.D., has been practicing dentistry for nearly 20 years. This fall he started offering orthodontics services at his offices, Kaufman Children’s Dental Hospital, in Brooklyn and Manhattan, in addition to the pediatric dentistry services already offered.
“We opened the center for pediatric dentistry, but we kept getting requests to provide orthodontics services,” Dr. Kaufman says. “We wanted to make [orthodontics] as convenient as our other services.”
Dr. Kaufman specializes in pediatrics, offering services to children and adolescents. Pediatric dentistry starts when a child is 1 year old and pediatric orthodontic screenings start when a child is 7 years old, Dr. Kaufman says.
The goal of Kaufman Children’s Dental Hospital is make going to the dentist and orthodontist as easy as possible while stressing the importance of a child continuing to go to the dentist while wearing braces. “We minimize missed school days by combining services,” Dr. Kaufman says. “We offer [teeth] cleaning in the same [appointment] as orthodontics services.”
Dr. Kaufman describes his practice as multidisciplinary, with a pediatric dentist, plastic surgeon, medical anesthesiologist, and orthodontist on staff. His office is kid-friendly, with bright colors and TV consoles at every chair.
