Green Apron Kitchen, a cooking school in Bensonhurst, added four birthday party packages to its offerings this summer.
Green Apron Kitchen now hosts 90- to 120-minute children’s birthday parties with age-appropriate cooking activities alongside a head chef and several kitchen assistants.
“Kids make their full menu completely from scratch,” says owner Maya Rybak.
The Basic, Premium, and Ultimate Party Packages discern the menu’s difficulty level, length of party, and add-ons such as party favors and adult coffee and tea (to enjoy in the parent lounge). The VIP Party Package is a fully customized party for the birthday child. Each party package includes all of the paper goods, ingredients, and aprons needed for the celebration.
The 90-minute Basic Party Package includes chef hats for guests to decorate and keep, exclusive use of the kitchen, and games. A head chef will lead the kids in making their own pizza with a variety of toppings and baking chocolate chip cookies.
The other packages build upon the level before it, adding more offerings for the party child, participants, and parents.
The 120-minute Premium Party Package adds a dessert tree as well as customized games and activities for partygoers. Kids also get to cook something off the Premium Package Menu, which includes options like a pizza party with milkshakes and brownies or cookies or a tea party with scones, muffins, sandwiches, and tea.
The 120-minute Ultimate Party Package adds a party favor for each child, coffee and tea for adults, and a cupcake tree. There are also more than 15 menus to choose from featuring foods such as pasta, pizza, quesadillas, and breakfast fare as well as themes for different ages and interests including SpongeBob, Hello Kitty, American Doll, Frozen, Iron Chef, princess, and superhero.
The VIP Party Package is a custom party with decorations, theme, and menu created especially for the birthday child. There are plenty of party add-odds such as balloons, aprons to take home, and food for adults. Green Apron Kitchen also offers gluten-free and organic options.
In addition to its birthday party packages, Green Apron Kitchen also offers a number of different classes for kids and adults including pizza making and a pasta making class for families.
Rybak got the idea for the cooking school after cooking with her own sons and realizing what a fun learning experience cooking can be.
“I used to cook with my boys all the time and I realized that it was not only fun for them, but that they learned so much with me in the kitchen,” she says, “everything from math skills to communication skills, and science and chemistry. I knew I wanted to share this with other kids.”
Green Apron Kitchen also offers summer camps for kids, including Challenge Accepted, a skills class that takes place Aug 21-25, and a Parisian Café Camp from Sept. 4-9. All camps are for children ages 6-14 and take place from 9:30am-3:30pm with late pick-up and early drop-off available.
