Further Music Studio, which offers music lessons in Queens, recently moved to a new location in Forest Hills. The studio offers piano, violin, and guitar lessons, as well as voice lessons. The studio also boasts the most affordable music lessons in New York City.

Since its beginning in April 2007, Further Music Studio has seen thousands of students come through the doors. The studio’s résumé includes instructors from the top five music colleges and schools in the area, including Julliard. Lessons are offered for piano, violin, guitar, and voice, with instruction including an understanding and appreciation for both Eastern and Western styles of music. The award-winning studio moved to a new location in Forest Hills earlier this year.
“At our school we emphasize student improvement,” says owner Carrie Shi. “Almost every month we track students’ progress. And for those students who didn’t take it seriously, we’re going to terminate them. So this way we can keep students who have high quality.”
Despite the rigorous expectations of the school, students of all ages and levels are welcome to register. Classes for both individuals and groups are offered, with the groups allowing no more than four students per class, so as still to focus on individuals.
Further Music Studio boasts that it offers the lowest tuition in New York City: private lessons are $25 per class; group lessons are $12 per class, with each class being 45 minutes long; and family discounts are offered.
