Creative Corner, an art studio in Larchmont, added two after-school art classes for younger artists and programming for playdates in September.
Creative Corner’s new art classes for younger kids are all about perfecting fine motor skills and experiencing art in a variety of mediums. The Around the World class takes artists ages 4-5 on a trip around the world to learn about the art of different cultures. The Where are we Today? class, for students in kindergarten to third grade, teaches children the basic elements of art in a variety of mediums including watercolors, collage, and sculpture.
Creative Corner is also now hosting playgroup workshops where groups of parents can host their children’s playdates at the Creative Corner studio. Creative Corner will provide an activity for the group as well as take care of setup and cleanup.
Fran Mannix, the owner of Creative Corner, says they try to accommodate the wants and interests of customers in the area. “If we have the time available, we’re happy to accommodate,” she says. “There’s a lot of flexibility in our store, which I don’t think you’re getting in other places.”
Creative Corner is an art studio that provides classes, workshops, camps, and birthday parties for children ages 2 and older, including adults. Mannix says they’re finding that local schools are focusing less on art lately, so at Creative Corner they’re trying to bring art back into kids’ lives. Mannix hopes students will leave Creative Corner feeling proud of what they’ve accomplished and possessing a new love of art.
