SciTech Kids is holding a celebration of the grand opening of the first SciTech Kids STE[A]M Maker Lab on the Upper East Side this weekend from 11am-3pm on both Saturday and Sunday! The new lab is located at 215 East 81st Street. The official ribbon-cutting will take place at 11:30am on Saturday.
Come one come all, this free two-day celebration and workshop taking place on September 17-18 is perfect for children and adults of any age with an interest in STEM and art. The brand-new STE[A]M Maker Lab is part makerspace and part learning lab, and builds on SciTech’s commitment to helping children learn science and engineering concepts by doing, rather than by watching.
“Our new flagship 2,000 sq. ft flagship location will take learning to a new level,” says Kim Magloire, President and Founder of SciTech Kids. “My hope for SciTech Kids was to disprove the notion that STEM & STEAM topics are only for select kids. I wanted to show that when Art is integrated into STEM teaching it is exciting and relevant for everyone, even preschool children. Our students aren’t just proving just how important and fun STE[A]M is. They are inventing, winning competitions, and leading workshops at museums.”
The event is meant to be educational and creative with activities run by expert SciTech Ambassadors include building robots, piloting a flying drone, or 3D printing food. The combination of art, STEM teaching and experimenting makes for an educational and creative event for everyone in your family.
