Weekend Planner: January 29-30

There are tons of festive happenings going on this weekend in neighborhoods all over the city. If you’d like to celebrate the Lunar New Year with your kids, there are tons of great choices this weekend; on Friday, families can partake in stories and crafts at the Chatham Square
Branch
of the NYPL (downtown on East Broadway); on Saturday, kids will love
the Lunar New Year festival at the Asia Society (Park Ave and
71st Street), which will feature traditional Lion Dances, craft projects and
Kung Fu demonstrations; and on Sunday, the Museum of Chinese in America hosts a family party, complete
with exhibit tours, dancing, stories and more hands-on fun.%uFFFD —

If you’d like to take in a rockin’ kids concert, there are plenty to choose from, like Suzi Shelton at the Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Lunch Money at Symphony Space, Brady Rymer at 92Y Tribeca, and a special jazz concert celebrating Louis Armstrong at Lincoln Center.

And though summer camp may be the last thing on your mind in the middle of a blizzard, now is the perfect time to start looking into finding the perfect day camp, sleepaway camp or specialty camp for your child. New York Family and the American Camp Association of New York, New Jersey are hosting two free camp fairs this weekend, in downtown Manhattan and Park Slope, Brooklyn.
