Who doesn’t
love a good, old fashioned pop-up book? Even as adults, we’re still suckers for all the flaps, folds
and hidden tidbits. —
Based on the song by legendary folk artist Woody Guthrie, Riding In My Car is a new pop-up and interactive hardcover (you can even
listen to the song here). Illustrator Scott Menchin loved the tune so much that
he has created this book based on a road-trippin’ family of canines that travel
the United States.
As they read and sing, children get introduced to important American landmarks such
as Mt. Rushmore, Route 66 and the Grand
Canyon—starting, of course, in New York City where Woody Guthrie actually wrote
the original song. Every page is filled with bright illustrations and
interactive pulls, tugs and pop-ups! We bet your kiddo will want to read this
one again and again (but don’t take our word for it).
New York Family has fabulous five copies to give
away! Simply email familygiveaways@manhattanmedia.com
with “Woody Guthrie” in the subject line. The deadline to enter is Wednesday, March
28.
P.S. You could meet Scott Menchin at this Saturday’s upcoming
reading and signing event at Book Court General Books in Brooklyn.
