If your child was born in 2012 and you are a New York City resident, it’s almost time for Pre-K enrollment.
Enrollment starts on January 25, 2016 for the Pre-K for All program, a free, full-day (6 hours and 20 minutes) program for children who will turn 4 this year. School is five days a week from September to June. The deadline to submit your application is March 4, 2016.
Admissions events are being held around the city for those who would like more information. Information sessions are scheduled in all five boroughs. You can also find out more information online. Be sure to use the Pre-K Finder tool to find all the schools in your district.
You can apply online, in-person at a Welcome Center, or over the phone by calling 718-935-2067.
According to the website you will need the following things to successfully fill out the application:
1. Your child’s name and date of birth
2. Your name, address, phone number, and email address (if applicable)
3. Child’s current program (if applicable)
4. Name, date of birth, and grade of siblings who will be enrolled at the programs you are applying to (if applicable)
5. Child’s home language (if applying to a Dual Language or Enhanced Language Support program)
6. The programs you are applying to, ranked in order of your preference
You can list up to 12 schools on your application and your child will be considered for each school in the order they were ranked. Also, admission is not first-come, first-served, you may apply any time between Jan. 25 and March 4.
Offer letters will be sent in the beginning of May.
Good luck!
