Mario Lopez Steps Up To The Plate With Canon & Little League’s New Contest

Mario 23Growing up playing and watching baseball in his hometown of San Diego, CA, “Extra” host, “Dancing with the Stars” contestant, actor and dad Mario Lopez has always been a huge fan of baseball. Naturally, he was excited to be announcing today his partnership with Canon and the Little League, the world’s largest organized youth sports program.

For the months leading up the Little League Baseball Series in August, Lopez, who’s a father-of-two, will be encouraging baseball fans and family everywhere to enter the Canon Little League Photo Contest where participants will have one of three chances to win a trip and to meet Lopez at the World Series in South Williamsport, PA. The winners will be able to see their photos (printed on Canon PIXMA printers) on display in the World of Little League Museum in the Richard “Hank” Bauer, Jr. Little League Photography Exhibit in the World Series Gallery presented by Easton Foundations.

“I’ve always been such a fan of the game of baseball, and it really starts for so many families, including mine, with Little League,” Lopez says. “I’m excited to take part in this celebration of family photos and especially the printed images that we all cherish, and showcase the excitement and passion of the game.”

Photo entries will be judged by the monthly theme, quality and overall impression. This month, the Canon Little League Photo Contest focuses on “Fandemonium,” a theme featuring shots of passionate fans.

“I am interested in seeing original and fun photos from baseball fans everywhere,” Lopez explains about the upcoming contest. “It’s great for parents to get involved in this contest and to share photos of their kids and family,” says Lopez. “People take photos on phones now, but it’s great that with Canon you can take photos and keep them.”

Mario Lopez baseballLopez loves taking lots of photos, especially of his own kids, Gia, 4, and Dominic, 1, and his dog. “When I was growing up, my mother only had like six photos of me,” he says with a laugh, adding that it’s important to him to capture the moments with his family on camera.

Although his own kids are currently too young for sports, Lopez says that his nephew is into baseball and that his family loves being part of it all. “The Lopez family is a very active family,” he explains.

The contest is open to U.S. and Canadian residents aged 18 and up. To submit your photos and read the official rules, visit littleleague.org/canonphotocontest.
