Girls face unique pressures living in today’s day and age. Unfortunately, not all girls have the tools to confidently navigate those challenges. Naturally, if you are a parent, your instinct is to help. But how? That’s where Bowery Babes steps in.
Bowery Babes is hosting a seminar called Raising Resilient Girls led by Girls Leadership. Bowery Babes, located in New York City, is a nonprofit mothers’ support group to over 3,000 moms, and it also educates parents on family related issues.
Ashley Lauren Hamilton of Girls Leadership will present the seminar. Girls Leadership was co-founded by bestselling author Rachel Simmons. Its mission is to teach girls the skills they need to be “brave, resilient, and connected” so they can change the world around them. Hamilton teaches Parent-Daughter Workshops for Girls Leadership and is currently in an Applied/Education Theater PhD program at New York University.
The one-hour long seminar will discuss the pressures that girls, ages 4-18, face in 2016 and the reasons why some girls are struggling. Hamilton will also share tips on what parents, coaches, educators, and administrators can do to help girls practice assertive self-expression, maintain healthy relationships, and prepare them for leadership positions. Hamilton’s comprehensive presentation encompasses the development of girls from preschool to high school. Afterwards, there will be a 30-minute Q&A session.
This engaging and informative seminar will be held on October 27 at the Academy of St. Joseph from 7:00pm to 8:30 pm. The seminar costs $25. Registration closes on October 19.
