Making New Year’s resolutions are easy, but sticking with them? It’s tough when American Idol dictates your evenings and the couch looks more inviting that the treadmill. Diligence was your middle name in January, but now you’re bored, burnt out, and looking for that extra push. Vadim Fitness Studio, Ltd., in Scarsdale, has the answer to your workout blues, with its new Mini-Boot Camp program. And at $25 per session, it’s a cost-efficient alternative to personal training.
An exercise physiologist with more than 15 years experience, Vadim Vilensky launched his Mini-Boot Camp for both teens and adults looking for a fun and intense total body workout. The semi-private sessions, comprised of groups of four, offer a full hour of cardio, endurance, strength training, and balance. The program is perfect for beginners who need an introduction to fitness, as well as advanced athletes who seek variety from their routines. Vadim will tailor the program to each individual’s needs and abilities, and clients are advised to pace themselves and work at their own levels. The small group setting ensures personal attention, correct form, and safety.
Starting with a warm-up, medicine balls and resistance bands are used for one-on-one drills. Clients are then introduced to two unique interval circuits, each repeated three times. The fast-paced circuits, which include six to eight different exercises running for 30 to 40 seconds each, followed by a 15- to 20-second break, ensure concentration and variety. Utilizing several types of equipment, such as stability balls, elastic bands, kettlebells, balance discs, steps, free weights, bars, and the slide board, the exercises focus on endurance, strength, balance, agility, and coordination. A cool-down concludes the heart-pumping hour.
