How Long Island Businesses Are Rebuilding After Sandy

Much of the East Coast was damaged by Hurricane Sandy, dubbed as by media as “Frankenstorm,” and many businesses on Long Island are hosting fundraiser events and can use your help as they help to rebuild the community.

Many businesses and residences on the East Coast, including on Long Island, were damaged or lost due to Hurricane Sandy, and hundreds still remain without shelter or have limited resources. The local businesses throughout Long Island that are fortunate enough to have weathered the storm are offering a helping hand to help the community get back on its feet.

Pump It Up Long Island is hosting several Hurricane Sandy Fundraisers at its multiple locations throughout the Island to help raise money for local charities and will also serve as a drop-off site for non-perishable foods, blankets, and clothes to help the victims of the storm. ChrioMom will host a Massage-A-Thon that will donate proceeds to the Hurricane Sandy Long Island Disaster Relief. Many other businesses, including Dix Hills Family Dentistry, that have running electricity and hot water are simply offering a place for those in the community to charge their electronics or have a cup of hot coffee.

To help these Long Island businesses and others in the New York area spread the word about any fundraisers or charity events to aid victims of Hurricane Sandy or to let the public know about openings and closings or changes in schedule due to the storm, NYMetroParents created a central news page of these updates.
