Spend your Friday evenings this summer at Pier 46 for Hudson RiverFlicks’ Family Fridays! These outdoor movie screenings are all kid-friendly and the majority of the films are rated G or PG. This year’s selections are “The Secret Life of Pets,” “Trolls,” 1971’s “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory,” “Kubo and the Two Strings,” “Sing,” “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” and “The Karate Kid.” Free popcorn will be served. Snacks and beverages will be available for sale. Runs Fridays through Friday, August 18.

The New York Transit Museum’s Vintage Bus Bash on Governors Island provides the perfect opportunity to introduce children to vintage city buses. This fest will feature four of the museum’s buses from the ’40s and ’50s, including one of the first air-conditioned buses in the nation–bus 3100–the same model that Jackie Gleason’s character Ralph Kramden drove in “The Honeymooners,” and more. Please note: Admission is free; ferry ticket must be purchased.

Celebrate the culture and businesses of 8th Street at the Positively 8th Street Festival. The festival will feature musical performances, pop-up gardens, alfresco eating, and the creation of a community mural lead by The Storm Ritter Studio. 4th Annual Louis Armstrong’s Wonderful World Festival

Flushing Meadows Corona Park was home to iconic jazz musician Louis Armstrong for more than twenty years and is now home to the 4th Annual Louis Armstrong’s Wonderful World Festival. This year’s lineup, created by bandleader Jon Batiste, will feature jazz performances as well as other musical genres including freestyle rap to celebrate Armstrong’s belief that “you gotta listen to all types of music.” Be sure to check out the “Backyard Bash” for a family area and food court.

Join the National Museum of Mathematics for the first-ever New York Math Festival! This all-ages event will feature outdoor MoMath exhibits, math games, puzzles, and more.
