Daily News Food Drive
The holiday season is for spending time with family and eating hearty meals. Sadly, not all New Yorkers have the opportunity to put food on their tables. City Harvest aims to change that as New York City’s largest food rescue organization! This is their 37th annual food drive where they collect non-perishable food items that will keep shelves stocked all over the city.
Local businesses, schools, and organizations are welcome to run their own drives. Just last year, 352 schools participated in the Kids Can Help Competition and collected over 238,586 pounds of food. The school in each borough that collects the most food will win a prize from Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group.
Donations can be dropped off at City Harvest’s office, or at NYC Fire Department firehouses, NYC Police Department precincts, and various Apple Bank locations. Direct donations are also accepted.
