Celebrate The US Women’s Soccer Team At Tomorrow’s Ticker-Tape Parade

Friday’s ticker-tape parade, honoring the US Women’s Soccer Team’s World Cup win, is going to be a historic event. Though the ticker-tape parade (named after the thin slips of paper that the financial firms on Broadway used to report stock prices) is a New York City tradition that dates back to the Statue of Liberty’s 1886 dedication, the women will be the first female athletes to receive this honor in more than 50 years.

The athletes will be joined by Mayor de Blasio, Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts, former US Women’s Soccer Player and current FOX sports analyst Heather Mitts, and local marching bands and soccer teams. 1330608298753896618

The parade will begin at 11am at Bowling Green, head north on Broadway to Worth Street, turn east on Worth Street to Lafayette Street, go south on Lafayette Street to Chambers and Centre Streets, and culminate at City Hall.

You can watch from anywhere along Broadway. According to the MTA, the best Subway stops to reach the parade route will be:

  •  R at Rector Street, Cortlandt Street, or Whitehall Street
  • 2 or 3 to Wall Street or Fulton Street
  • 1 to South Ferry
  • 4/5/6 to Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall

Starting at 10am, trains will skip the following stations: City Hall R, Fulton Street 4/5, Fulton Street A/C, Wall Street 4/5, Chambers Street A/C, and World Trade Center E. Announcements will be made if a train is skipping a station.
