We’ve been fans of Canvas creations since we first held a nesting bowl made of white porcelain with gold-glazed interior at the Ochre store in Soho. Now Ochre store owner Andrew Corrie has opened the first ever brick-and-mortar Canvas store just a few blocks away with an expanded collection of Canvas’ sustainable, fair trade ceramics, wooden objects, textiles, accessories and furniture. The 1,800 square-foot space on the corner of Lafayette and Broome Streets begs you to fall in and add to, or completely rethink, your apartment’s current decor. Prices range from about $6 for a recycled glass tumbler to $4,200 for a sofa; 10 percent of the profits go to nonprofit artisan organizations.
