What To Do Around The City Today

As the city is recovering from the storm, some of our favorite institutions have reopened and are hosting free programs for kids and families. Here are some ideas for what to do today:

92Y Pop-Up Family Camp
1-4pm
Families can stop in anytime between 1pm and 4pm for art, music, sports, and more at the May Center. The “camp” includes open swim and gym, but parents are required to stay with their kids.

Holiday Workshop @ CMOM
10am-5pm
Sandy unfortunately cut Halloween celebrations short, but CMOM’s new “The Grinch’s Holiday Workshop” helps usher in more of the festive spirit–with a community-minded bent. In addition to regular programming, special workshops are making cards for victims of the hurricane.

Regular Hours @ AMNH
10am-4:45pm
If you didn’t get the chance to visit the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial last weekend, the American Museum of Natural History is holding regular hours today. Other current exhibits include the Butterfly Conservatory, “Spiders Alive!,” and “Moths At Large.”

Free Admission @ Museum Of The Moving Image
10:30am-8pm
If you’re in Queens, the Museum Of The Moving Image is open for free today–and will have two free screenings of “Back To The Future” at 2pm and 6:30pm.

Regular Hours @ Brooklyn Children’s Museum
10am-5pm
The Brooklyn Children’s Museum is celebrating Day of the Dead at 2:30pm today, with crafts and a tour of the museum’s cultural objects. Otherwise, check out temporary exhibits like “Global Shoes” or “Japan and Nature.”

Volunteer Or Donate!
The city is looking for volunteers to help clean up our beloved parks–more info here. Or, if you’re interested in donating, here are some relief organizations that could use more funds.
