STARTING FRIDAY

*At the New York Children’s Theater Festival, three original plays will be featured each weekend throughout the month of May at the Marjorie S. Deane Little Theater. Enjoy the show! (Friday to May 18)

*Katarsis, a Spanish children’s education company, presents “Bedtime,” a wordless production about a nighttime adventure between two friends at BAM Fisher. Sleep tight! (Friday to Sunday)

*End the week with family play time at Jodi’s Gym: There’s a bounce castle, parachute, crafts, circle time, story time, and a pizza dinner. Yum! (Friday)

STARTING SATURDAY

*Design and create a mini ecosystem at the Horticultural Society of New York with its Tiny Terrariums workshop. Get a green thumb! (Saturday)

*The Big Swim at Asphalt Green is a children’s meet open to the public with over 1,000 expected participants. Kids ages 6 to 12 can sign up for the friendly fundraiser. Dive in! (Saturday)

*Head to Lincoln Center’s Damrosch Tent for swing dance lessons for families. Let’s dance! (Saturday)

*Filled with rock ‘n’ roll, swing, and classical music, “Dear Albert Einstein” follows a middle school math star as she navigates junior high with the help of an imaginary Einstein. Cheers to mentors! (Saturday to May 18)

*It’s time for the 13th annual Free Comic Book Day! Hosted by various local comic shops, the special occasion will feature events like costume contests, giveaways, and signings. Calling all comic fans! (Saturday)

STARTING SUNDAY

*In honor of Mother’s Day, “Listen To Your Mother” is a special series showcasing live staged readings in 32 cities, including New York. The NYC edition at Symphony Space will feature work by Nadine Baker, Amy Carr, and Logan Fisher, among others. Yay mom! (Sunday)

*Get information about the summer and fall programs at an open house for Poppyseed Pre-Nursery, a place where toddlers bloom. Be informed! (Sunday)
