Rooftop Celebration And Senegalese Dance Workshop With Papa Sy At Brooklyn Children's Museum
This weekend, celebrate the opening of the Brooklyn Children’s Museum’s new rooftop terrace and park with a Senegalese dance workshop! Papa Sy will lead this all-ages dance session and story time featuring authentic Senegalese music. This 45-minute fest will be co-sponsored by Cumbe: Center for African and Diaspora Dance. -
Hindu Lamp Ceremony In Brooklyn Bridge Park
The traditional Hindu lamp ceremony, or the Aarti ceremony, will be presented in Brooklyn Bridge Park this Saturday in anticipation of hurricane season. Learn more about this tradition by taking part in the ceremony as well as the percussion ensemble. Along with the ensemble, there will also be guest artists showcasing their projects. It’s sure to be an educational and cultural afternoon. -
Summer Streets 2017
Take advantage of Summer Streets, the annual summer festival that gives New Yorkers the chance to stroll and play on completely traffic-free city streets. On three Saturdays in August, the New York City Department of Transportation will close seven miles of streets to cars, allowing walkers, runners, and bikers to enjoy the open space. This encouragement of healthy transportation takes place from 7am-1pm and stretches from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park. A variety of activities will take place at the six stops along the route and all are free to the public, including a zip line, free bike and roller blade rentals, fitness classes, and a giant “Beachside Slide” in Foley Square. -
Ranger's Choice: Little Red Lighthouse Lantern Tour In Fort Washington Park
This Saturday, join NYC’s Park Rangers for a special evening tour of a Manhattan landmark! The Rangers will lead participants through the Jefferey’s Hook Lighthouse, which became known as the “Little Red Lighthouse” due to the popularity of Hildegarde H. Swift’s classic children’s book. Space is limited; registration is required and participants will be chosen via lottery. -

Maurice Sendak and Carole King have joined forces to create “Really Rosie,” a family-friendly musical about a Brooklyn girl with big dreams. Fun song titles include “Pierre,” “Alligators All Around,” and “Chicken Soup with Rice.” Make sure to arrive early for a variety of fun activities like a photo booth and scavenger hunt held an hour before every show. -
“Annie Warbucks: The Musical” At The Pershing Square Signature Center
Little orphan Annie is at it again in this wonderful sequel to the original masterpiece. Featuring catchy songs from Tony award winners Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse, and Martin Charnin, this family-friendly musical combines laughter, romance, and mystery to make a musical that will delight audiences of all ages. Seven actors squeeze into the 21-square-foot stage to recreate the same exact space our heroic astronauts were in when they were in capsules. Take your little space explorer to an out-of-the-world experience that will not only educate them on the importance of our history but how gravity matters.

Branching OUT centers on discovering and exploring one&rsquo;s story and identity through an intentionally artist-led format. During our community-based program, young people will explore and reflect on their own story to create a larger, more meaningful experience, while gaining self-empowerment and gathering with like-minded peers. Through the guidance of our awarded teaching artists, young people will create narratives that will be turned into podcasts, dances, songs or poetry.&nbsp;</div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>Young people have the opportunity to learn new art forms, work with professional artists, while building a meaningful community.</div>
